RVFD Application

Application Process

1- Applications 
Print off application online, complete application, and drop off to the Ralston Fire Station before the application period ends. Applications received after deadline will be held over to the next Application period. 

2- In-Basket
Applicants will receive an “In Basket” from the Department’s Human Resource contractor Morrow & Associates. The questions will need to be answered by the applicant and returned to Morrow & Assoc. by the deadline. The In-Basket will be graded by Morrow & Assoc. and the names of those who pass this portion of the process will be forwarded to the Department to move on to the next step in the process.

3- Background Investigations 
Criminal Backgrounds will be done on all applicants. This process is Pass or Fail. Those who pass will move on to the next step in the process.

4- Interviews
Each applicant who has passed the previous testing will have an interview with a panel of Ralston Fire Department members. Applicants must receive a passing score of 70 points to move on to the next step in the process.  

5- Physical Agility Test
Each applicant who has passed the previous testing and interviews will complete a Physical Agility Test. This test is conducted at the Fire Station and each applicant must complete this in the time allowed.

6- Health Physical
Each applicant who has passed the previous testing will be required to have a health physical done at Bergan Occupational Health. This insures applicants are healthy and can perform the duties of Fire or EMS. This is a pass or fail test based on minimum standards established by National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA).

7- Orientation
This is a presentation by Fire Chief Kyle Ienn who will explain all aspects of being a Volunteer Fire Fighter, Minimum requirements, benefits, etc. All applicants who have passed the previous testing will be required to attend one of the orientations.

8- Approved by Membership
The membership will vote to approve the applicants who have passed all pre-testing at their monthly business meeting.
